Wir wollen zunächst diskutieren, was unter „Elite“ überhaupt verstanden wird, und ob es „Bildung zur Elite“ gibt.

Viele der hoch Qualifizierten haben ihre Ausbildung in Europa oder den USA gemacht. Welche Ideen bringen sie in ihr Heimatland mit, und welche Auswirkungen hat das für die gesellschaftliche Entwicklung? Aufgrund bestimmter politischer Machtkonstellationen in einigen Ländern entsteht häufig der Eindruck, eine Einflussnahme werde den Absolventen nach ihrer Rückkehr verwehrt.

Das Seminar soll Möglichkeiten und Wege aufzeigen, wodurch die Studierenden motiviert werden, weiter zu denken und vielleicht neue Wege zu gehen.

Wir werden uns mit einer konkreten Methode der Konfliktanalyse auseinandersetzen. Diese lernen wir auf theoretischer Ebene kennen und wollen sie dann auf konkrete Konflikte aus den Heimatregionen der Teilnehmenden anwenden.

Dabei kann es sich um wirtschaftliche, politische, religiöse oder soziale Konflikte handeln.

Elites and their roles in conflicts

The seminar will deal with the topic of the educated elite – in what extent they are able to influence the development in their countries, especially in situations of conflict or crisis.

We want to discuss, what is meant with „elite“ at all and if there is an „education to an elite“.

A lot of intellectuals have studied in the USA or in Europe. Which ideas do they bring to their home countries? Which consequences do it have to the social development of these countries? Because of special constellations of political power in some countries, the impression grows that the influence of the intelligentsia is refused.

The seminar shall show possiblities and ways to the students to go new ways and to think further. We will learn with a methode of conflict analysis. After getting to know it at theoretic level, we will apply it to concrete conflicts from the countries of the participants.

We will deal with economic, political, religious or social conflicts.
